FLO Redesign - Introducing Tailored Learning Provision for 2024

Over the past two years the Department for Education has been working to redesign Flexible Learning Options (FLO) to improve support for at-risk young people and keep them engaged with school.

Following significant consultation with key stakeholders, the department has developed a new model called the Tailored Learning Provision (TLP).

The goal of the TLP model is to better support young people who are vulnerable to chronic non-attendance, early school leaving and education disengagement to remain connected to school and ultimately improve learning outcomes.

Our school has been invited to further develop the TLP model during 2024.

We are currently working closely with the department to understand the practical operations of TLP model and will be seeking student and staff feedback and learnings during the coming year.

SchoolTV - PHYSICAL ACTIVITY & EXERCISE

In this edition of SchoolTV - PHYSICAL ACTIVITY & EXERCISE

In the last decade, children’s participation in physical activity and exercise has been in decline. In this digital age, children are using computers and mobile devices, not only for learning, but for relaxation and recreation purposes. This sedentary lifestyle is having a detrimental effect on today’s youth. The key is finding the balance.

Research shows, that regular physical activity and exercise leads to changes in the brain. It improves cognitive function, elevates mood, enhances learning and improves academic outcomes. Playing sport helps kids develop fundamental movement skills impacting positively on their confidence, self-esteem and ability to develop social skills. Parents play an important role in helping children establish positive habits that will benefit their children in the long-term.

In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will discover practical advice relating to the benefits of regular physical activity and exercise, as well as tips on how to get their kids motivated and moving more.

We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.

NAPLAN - coming soon

A reminder that NAPLAN is fast approaching for our year 7 and 9 students. The test period is from Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March. Whilst all efforts will be made to conduct testing withing the first three days, some tests may need to be rescheduled due to disruptions and catch-up sessions will be conducted.

All NAPLAN tests will be completed online this year with the testing being tailored to adjust to the students as they complete it. We have produced a short video which you may wish to watch with your year 7 or 9 student to explain further.
